My Turning Point
I believe that everyday you have the opportunity to have a “turning point.” Having a “turning point” is making conscious lifetime decisions to be others minded. In the past I have done honorable things to make our community better such as, going on a missions trip with my church to Los Angeles. We stayed in an old, run down hospital called the Dream Center. This outreach program helps the homeless and provides shelter for the people in need. For about a week we went on the streets of L.A. and cleaned up what homeless people would call their homes. Some people were thankful for our service and other people were very upset because they felt as though we were invading their home by coming in with our brooms. Either way- If I was able to shed some light on just one person by giving back through a missions trip then I did my job. I also started a young girls ministry when I was a senior in high school titled “God’s girls.” Every month, once a month we would meet at our church, we would provide dinner for the girls and share with them how it is supposed important to know that their worth and value comes from God and not through guys. I had leadership team of about eight other women and together as a team we developed a ministry that is still impacting lives. I lead God’s girls for five years and after fives years I felt like I was being pulled in a different direction. I stepped down for God’s girls and gave the ministry to another influential lady and to this day she is doing a remarkable job by teaching girls about their value. I don’t know if I’ve found my absolute “turning point” yet. I have many passions but right now in the season of life I’m in. I believe my “turning point” right now is to be a great student, sibling, wife, daughter and aunt. But! I do believe that as I stay one with God he always seems to bring opportunities my way of how I can be a vessel for him and show others Christ love by being his helping hand.
